I saw the new iPod (video) today for the first time up close. I was stunned by how thin it is compared with my (now clunker) 3G iPod. But, as much as I'd love the new lite form factor in my pocket, I'm really waiting for the time when an iPod can output HD video to a proper big screen display. By my reckoning that will require quite a bit more than 100GB of storage capaciity to be worthwhile and sufficent processing power and other HD gubbins to facilitate HD codec decompression, all of which I'm guessing is about 12-18 months out.

So, since the product I really want to buy hasn't been invented yet, until then I'm staying put and quite content to remain a pre-emptive laggard for a while yet.
