Ten years ago this week I started using the web properly, in the sense that I had my own access account with CompuServe. On a lowly 9,600 baud connection with a US Robotics Sportster modem - one of the white ones that looked a bit like small pianos. Amazing how much the web has invaded our lives in that time. I think back then I thought things like Yahoo! - which itself was barely a few months old at the time - would work in an encyclopedic way, kinda like Wikipedia does today. They didn't. But I knew when I heard Real Audio version 1.0 live streaming KingFM, a radio station in Seattle, that I was witnessing the beginning of something quite big. Even if it did sound like bad long wave radio.
