Taxi For Nokia?

Apparently the next Nokia saviour phones are almost upon us.

Good luck with that Nokia, but my bet is Nokia will give up on smart phones pretty soon. My last Nokia was an N95 in 1997 which was buggy, slow, buggy and sometimes OK. And buggy. And hamfistedly executed. The N95 replaced my abiding favourite Nokia of all time which was the stainless steel Nokia 8800; where the steel casing was an unusual, gratuitous design characteristic that was actually it's main redeeming feature.

That's when handset manufacturers thought their devices had more in common with jewellery than actually useful devices beyond taking & making calls, having carried the art of mobile operating systems design to a zenith of clunky, annoying UI perfection.

Then the iPhone happened.

I'd hate to be Nokia or RIM these days, watching it all slip away, powerless to act.
