Various

  • If you like coffee and are partial to red wine, Diemersfontein Pinotage is an excellent combination. Tastes like wine, smells like coffee.

  • Addicted to Starbucks Gingerbread latte.

  • "REDNESS CAN KILL, TAKE A BREAK" spotted on an overhead motorway sign last night during our 300+ mile trek back from Glasgow.

  • As it was so cold last night, -6C, and the TV and radio reports were all advising people not to travel on account of snow in various random parts of the country, I sensibly checked the weather forecast for the west coast route and saw it was clear (of snow at least) and banked on the news reports scaring people away and the M6 motorway being empty. It was, indeed for about a 6 mile stretch on the M6 toll road, I never encountered another soul. It was like there had been a nucular war or some nationwide disease had wiped out civilization. The temp guage never got above -4C but the motorway was fine and the lack of traffic made for a record run.

  • There was thick fog for some of the run and it was quite weird (and handy) having the TomTom sitting on the dashboard laying out the bends and turns of the road in front of me; bends and turns that were quite invisible to me in the thick 200 yard visibility. A bit like flying on instruments and radar. All we need now is for other traffic to show up as little blips on the TomTom screen and we'll be there.
