So, the holiday season is over and I return to work on Monday. Which means that the frequency of postings on here is liable to drop off a tad. Well probably more than a tad if I'm honest. And so it is that I step out of my manic holiday weblogger's shoes and review progress to date.
Not two months ago did I start this weblog. Actually more like a year and two months but it went incommunicado for a year until Chris Locke, RageBoy to this friends, did hurl another of his insanely crafted EGR issues wherein he suggested that, for a laugh, readers set-up their own weblogs, register with Daypop, name-drop him and he'd do the same back. I don't know whether he considers this experiment of his a success or whether in fact he was actually being serious but nonetheless, like a sheep I did as he commanded. That is why, dear reader, you will see my name at the bottom of his blogroll list. Not, I should stress, through any meritous conduct on my part. And if you care to check back to the earliest posts on this weblog you'll see just what a battle I had even getting him to do that. Knowing him he'll change his mind anyway and decide that weblogs are pass?, recite at length some obscure texts nobody has ever heard of and bin the whole notion.
Not so with David Weinberger, a less detached comrade and co-author buddy of the above mentioned RB. It is truly an honour to be listed on David's blogrolodex and I didn't even have to ask, which means he either confused me with someone else or liked something I stole from someone else. Let the truth be known that Mr Locke may have pushed me out of the plane to get this weblog started but being listed on David's site is one of the main reasons I kept it going past the first fortnight. Part of me thinks that I don't deserve such implied praise but I'm thankfully keeping it sedated. If JOHO was about the best 'zine on the web then David's blog has amazingly managed to top that. Stop reading this immediately and check it out. Doc Searls Weblog also serves as a great inspiration.
Trying desperately not to over-senitmentalise this posting (too late) I'll end this section by simply saying thanks to Chris, David & Doc, and Marek, Carsten, Chris, Tony, B!X and the rest of the guys on the cluetrain list.
Stats wise I'm getting around 40-50 (and rising) visits a day, which is pretty darn cool for a month and a half I reckon.
To the recently complete strangers among you, Welcome, I'm pleased to make your equaintances and before any more of you start to delete me from your Favorites lists, I'll shut up. But as a parting shot I ask you to remember that a stranger is just a friend you don't know yet.
Keep on bloggin.
